For a search that runs on two tracks, a permanent role and freelance missions, and a career move that deserves a method.
First a direction, then every offer, company and job board on one page I enjoy opening.
I look for a permanent role (CDI) and for freelance missions at the same time. That kind of search raises two questions: where should I aim, and how do I keep track of everything along the way? Offers, target companies, agencies, job boards and notes on each application spread everywhere. I kept it all in Notion, where every table needed sideways scrolling to read a single line. So I built two tools that work as a pair.
The Waypoint sets the direction. In France, a bilan de compétences is a structured review of your skills, values and options before a career move, normally run with a consultant. The Waypoint lets me run mine on my own, in ten steps that follow the three phases set out in French law: a starting point, then my path, skills, values, interests and conditions, then scenarios, a reality check and a plan. Each scenario is scored against my own weighted criteria, and a step called Mirror collects what other people see in me.
The Hunt runs the search. It turns that whole workspace into one page made of cards, with tabs for permanent roles and for freelance missions, a panorama of target companies, agencies and fully remote employers, and one search bar that looks through everything at once. A small badge tells me how fresh the data is.
Every night, a scheduled Claude Code run refreshes the offers. Only roles in Nantes or fully remote make it in, and each one is checked at its own address, because job boards keep listing positions long after they close.
Small touches that make the routine lighter:
- Saved LinkedIn searches that open in one click.
- An action plan for the day, with a button to open each application folder.
- A Document tab in The Waypoint that assembles my assessment summary by itself, ready to print as a PDF.
- Two styles in both tools: classic or Art Deco.
- Three languages in The Waypoint: English, French and Polish.
- A phone version of The Hunt to check offers on the go.
- My assessment stays on my computer, with a copy I can save as a file.
Built with HTML, JavaScript, the Notion API and Claude Code.
The Waypoint tells me where to aim. The Hunt finds the roles. The search is still a search. Now it feels like a plan.
In daily use for my own search, permanent and freelance.
