Art Deco poster of The Gist

For every meeting that deserves more than half-remembered notes.

Extra! Extra! My meetings, printed on my own computer.

I record many conversations: client calls, coaching sessions, coffee chats in several languages. The transcription built into my notes app needed a subscription and a steady internet connection, and it let me down the moment the connection dropped.

The Gist runs entirely on my computer. It records my microphone and the computer sound on two separate tracks, or takes any audio file I give it. Then it works like a small newsroom: it transcribes, recognises who spoke when, and prints a summary in the language of the meeting, with chapters, decisions and action items for each person.

What the newsroom covers:

  • Transcription and speakers: Whisper and speaker detection, all on my machine.
  • Summary and next steps: written by a local language model, with every figure checked against the transcript.
  • Translation of any edition, into any language.
  • A glossary that teaches it how to spell names like LOLO Read.
  • Export to PDF or Notion in one click, the only moment it goes online.

Built with Python, Whisper, Ollama and Claude Code, and dressed as a 1930s Art Deco newspaper.

Every conversation stays where it happened: on my own machine.

In daily use for my own meetings.
